Children's ProgramSunday morning programs are offered for children (infant - 6th grade) at each service. Children are grouped by age/grade and use curricula tailored to the developmental stages in each class and incorporate a variety of activities to address the wide range of learning styles represented within our classes. Elements of worship, learning, community building, and service are incorporated into our programs each week. Worship is an important component of our religious experience. On most Sundays, children begin in the sanctuary with their families for opening worship with the entire congregation. This time of worship includes a special "Sharing Service" or message for all ages. Children also have worship experiences within their own classes. They participate in the ritual of "Lighting the Chalice", sing, meditate, question, and share as they explore the awe and wonder of the world together.
Infant/ToddlersEvery Sunday morning at each service infants, toddlers and their families are warmly welcomed by Jan Wetherell, our infant/toddler coordinator. Since 2000 Jan's ministry to the Fellowship has been serving our youngest children. She and a team of adult volunteers and one youth create a space for young children to play, learn and explore together. In order to create a safe and happy environment our ratio of children to care givers is often 1:1. Simple rituals like snack time and singing generate a sense of belonging to our faith community. Teachers/GuidesTeaching at UUFC is a ministry serving the children of the Fellowship. Adults working with the children of the Fellowship are parents and non-parents from all walks of life. We like to call these adult leaders "guides" rather then teachers. They assist in guiding the children through exploration of religious beliefs, ideas and values using UUFC approved curricula.
