Most of the day-to-day work of our Fellowship is performed by members and friends. Some people serve on the Board of Trustees. Others take care of the building and grounds, keep the kitchen supplied and orderly, or support social justice causes. Still others volunteer to water plants, fold orders of service, write checks and balance books, organize the library, maintain bulletin boards, hang art work, distribute press releases, make refreshments for Sunday services, greet Sunday visitors, create flower arrangemments for Sunday mornings, teach R.E. classes, sing in the choir, and video- and audio-tape services, and more. Building and grounds maintenance work parties and weekly newsletter-folding get-togethers are social, as well as useful, activities.

If there is something you like to do, we would be delighted if you would do it. If there's something you think should be done and you're willing to help, we'd be pleased to have your assistance. Read through the descriptions of our committees: You may find one whose purpose appeals to you. And don't be reluctant to respond to the requests for help that periodically appear in our newsletter. Please call our office (541 752-5218) if you have questions, need clarification, or want to know if there is some way you can help out.

Committees

Adopt-a-Highway
Help clean up our local environment! Twice a year (normally spring and fall), a group of UUs pick up trash along the stretch of Hwy.20/34 between Corvallis and Philomath. Watch the newsletter for the next clean-up effort.

Adult Programs
We coordinate and schedule programs to make our UU principles and purposes come alive. We offer programs to the Fellowship to increase spiritual and secular knowledge. We welcome proposals for new programs. This committee has monthly meetings open to all.

Art Exhibits
If you have an eye for art, help us display the work of local artists every sixth week on a Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Must be able to come consistently. We will train you.

Bookstore
Many books and other publications are available through the Unitarian Universalist Bookstore and the Skinner House Books in Boston. To give local people a chance to purchase these books easily, a Bookstore table is open once a month at the UUFC before and after Sunday services. If reading the literature of writers attuned to our religious movement is of special interest to you, this may be your calling. You may help to select the publications to be ordered and/or take a turn at staffing the Bookstore table on an occasional Sunday morning.

Building Committee
We serve the congregation and community by maintaining the beauty and function of our Fellowship building. We seek ways in which it can be enhanced. We are the repository of knowledge of our buildings past, the source of wisdom and person-power for its current preservation, and the facilitator for its future growth. Membership is open and anyone interested can join the group for a one-time work event or as sustaining member.

Campus Ministry
A committee that is looking at how to better meet the needs of young adults on campus and in the community. We plan programs on campus and at the UUFC.

Cards & Casseroles
These committees work with the Caring Connection to reach out to UUFC members during times of personal change or crisis. Cards are sent to UUFC members to express concern, support, or celebration during major life events. Casseroles are prepared and delivered to UUFC members and families to help them through demanding times.

Caring Connection
We are UUFC's pastoral care committee. Call on us for help in the event of a death of a loved one, major illness or accident, hospitalization, new baby, depression, other life transition, or if you need someone to talk to.

Communications Oversight Committee
A small committee with a big mission. We work to coordinate UUFC communications and serve as a resource for the members and groups within the UUFC regarding communications including: newsletter, website, external publicity, etc. We strive to have the various communications reflect the congregation's mission statement and UU principles. This committee holds regular meetings (1-2 times a month) and would welcome additional members, especially those interested in working on external publicity. We work with Program Council and report to the Board of Trustees and may call upon the Website Advisory Committee, Program Council or the Board if issues arise that require additional their input.

Grounds Committee
We promote a welcoming presence and an aesthetic exterior space for the fellowship and community by maintaining and enhancing the landscaping and grounds. We do this by cooperatively sharing routine responsibilities and collectively planning, envisioning, and implementing improvements that enrich the beauty and utility of our outside environment. We serve as an historical resource for the fellowship in matters related to grounds-keeping, landscaping, and concerns with an outdoor focus.

Interior Design and Aesthetics Coommittee
Our purpose is to give continuity and direction to long-term planning related to interior design and aesthetics. The committee will advise and make recommendations on proposed changes in order to enhance the beauty of the Fellowship and to assure they are funtional and in keeping with our UU values. We will attempt to keep these proposals within our budget or the budget of whichever committee we are advising. This group should be consulted for approval of plans whenever there is a proposal to make permanent changes (those that last longer then two weeks)in the interior of the buildings. Depending on the circumstances, the committee will sometimes make the arrangements to implement a proposed change.

Memorial Plaque
When one wants to add a name to the memorial plaque, call this contact person. She has the plaque engraved and properly mounted with the others who have been so honored.

Memorial Service Receptions
We provide a hospitality service to bereaved UUFC members and friends. A few times a year, members of the Fellowship are called upon to be kind greeters, punch and coffee servers, or cookie providers, following a memorial service. We are an arm of the Caring Connection Committee and we work in cooperation with our minister.

Music Committee
Are you a music lover? Consider joining us to support the choir and the music program by helping plan and organize benefit concerts, social events, and after-rehearsal snacks, coordinate rides for singers and musicians, help file music, or enter information in the music database.

Newsletter Folding
We meet Tuesday afternoons, approximtely twice a month, at 1:00 to fold, tab, and label the newsletters while we enjoy each other's conversation. We usually finish by 2:30.

Partner Church Committee
Isten Hozott! Welcome! Come join the Partner Church Committee as we build a bridge between the UUFC and our brothers and sisters in Korispatak, Romania. We educate our own congregation about Unitarian life in Transylvania and work with our partner church congregation to identify and realize projects that help keep their faith alive. Sunday Support
It takes more than a minister and choir to make Sunday morning services complete. Thanks to House Managers, Service Leaders, Worship Assocites, Greeters and Flower Arrangers we enjoy a pleasant hour in which to "lift up that which is of value" in our lives. You are invited to participate in whatever way would be most satisfying to you.

Welcoming/Membership Committee
This committee's goal is to establish the smooth transition of newcomers and new members into active participation in the life of the Fellowship. Do you like to meet and greet people? Join us and contribute toward an inclusive and welcoming community. There are many diverse volunteer opportunities throughout the year and it is a great way to help the community as a whole. Contact us if you have a suggestion or new idea on ways that we can welcome, involve and retain members.

Worship Committee
We work with the minister and others to plan meaningful and varied religious services for the UUFC. We arrange services when the minister is out of the pulpit and during the summer. The committee supports the minister as primary worship leader and acts as liaison for guest speakers and lay-led services and also arranges for lay leaders for worship.

Fundraising Committees

Canvass Committee
The Canvass Committee elicits the largest source of funds for the ongoing life of our Fellowship, providing a wonderful opportunity for people with all sorts of skills: greeting and sharing with other people, entertaining, cooking, serving, working with figures. Think of the possibilities!!

Holiday Bazaar
Oh come all ye faithful, energetic and artistic! The Holiday Bazaar Committee directs all aspects of this important public fundraiser, parts of which, like scouting out new artists and crafters, need to happen months ahead! Your talents in crafts, publicity, cooking, decorating, logistics, publicity, and music are most welcome. Over 100 people are needed for the bazaar to be successful.

Rummage Sale
We help people who hate to throw out good stuff. We help people who love to find a bargain. We help people who want a short-term project. And in the process we earn a little money for the UUFC.

Services Auction
Services Auction The Services Auction is about building community, having fun, and raising money for the UUFC! The auction committee is made up of co-chairs who start meeting once a month, three months before the auction (which is usually in April or May of each year). We are always looking for people who are interested in being co-chairs or heading up pieces of the auction! People can join anytime. We are always interested in receiving input! The focus of the committee is in identifying how to make the coming services more successful than the last one. Volunteers may be asked to make phone calls, help recruit volunteers, pick up silent auction items and supplies the week before the auction; set up tables for general seating and organize silent auction display space on the day of the auction; oversee food tables; close silent auction tables, greet participants, record sales; and many other little tasks. Come join us and have fun! Contact us in March or April for sure!
